Released during the renowned Feis Ile whisky festival for 'Ardbog Day' in June 2013, this single malt has been aged in a unique combination of bourbon and Manzanilla sherry casks. This innovative aging process creates a complex profile that diverges from the classic Ardbeg Uigeadail, enhancing the sherry influence while still allowing the distillery’s signature peppery notes to shine through. Bottled at 104.2 proof, this expression captures the essence of Ardbeg.

A rich sherry sweetness

The Ardbog presents an intriguing interplay of flavors, featuring rich sherry sweetness, dried fruits, and a hint of chocolate. Underneath, the trademark Ardbeg smokiness and peppery spice emerge, culminating in a long, warming finish that lingers with earthy undertones.

It has a rich complex nose that’s sweet, savory and smoky; a dense mouthwatering flavor of the same and a finish that I never want to end. This is some great stuff and if you come across a bottle for a decent price, I’d snatch it up and take it home because it’s a great whisky.
