Heaven's Door Exploration Series 1 is the inaugural release in the Exploration Series - exploring new finishing methods to create unique limited edition expressions. Bottled at 108-proof and crafted by master distiller Ken Pierce and master blender Alex Moore, Exploration Series 1 takes Heaven’s Door’s award-winning 5-year-old straight Bourbon whiskey and finishes it in Calvados casks and medium-heavy toasted oak staves. Calvados is a type of brandy made from apples, produced in the eponymous region of France, imparting notes of  fresh apple cider and baked apple brandy to the bourbon. The Calvados have matured in the barrel for at least 2 years before being filled with Heaven's Door's straight bourbon whiskey.
