This rye whiskey is a quite a bit different from the traditional rye in that it is lighter and sweeter but retains that spicy snap. Despite its confusing name (r?)1 is a good whiskey and a nice addition to Beam's portfolio. It does have some great cocktail potential and I can see it being used for its unique profile by bartenders to create some interesting new whiskey cocktails.…

Nose and bed solid organic product and zest notes. Finish is short I dog it to home grown and vanilla

Tasting Notes

Nose

The spice notes are quite pronounced on the nose and in fact are a bit prickly.

Taste

Once you jump that hurdle, you'll discover a sticky sweet and vanilla'd underlining. The rye is on the thin side and bitter and dry with a bit of leather on the palate. As you exhale, you'll find lots of char smoke and red apple skins.

Finish

This is a decent rye, but there are older (and better) whiskeys on the market sold for much less."
