From its historical home in the Highlands of Scotland, The GlenDronach Distillery has been creating the finest sherried single malts for nearly two centuries. Founded in 1826 by James Allardice, the distillery was purchased in 1960 by William Teacher & Sons and then, in 2008 experienced a complete renaissance under The BenRiach Distillery Company. Named Global Whisky Distiller of the Year at the 2015 Icons of Whisky Awards, this small, privately owned distillery keeps going from strength to strength. A treat scotch if at any point there was one. Generally excellent with a ground-breaking sweet unpredictability. On the off chance that you like this give the Balvenie 15 (Sherry) or any of the Glenfarclas arrangement an attempt.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Coffee beans, sponge cake drenched in sherry, mint leaf, slightly buttery, sultana.

Taste

Oily walnut, new leather, blackberry and apple crumble, toasted brown sugar and a touch of liquorice root.

Finish

Fresh ginger, waxy orange, caramelised dried fruit and a hint of cigar box.
