Born into a family that had distilled tequila since the early 1800s, Don Felipe Camarena opened his own distillery in 1937 within the mountains of Jasilco, Mexico, which is famed for producing the very best blue agave. Passing the business doen three generations, the distillery recently celebrated 75 years of production, using many of the same methods as were used upon its opening. Double distilled, Tapatio retains as much of its original chatacter and flavour as possible. Tapatio Blanco is left to settle in steel tanks for up to a month after distillation, creating a agave and grilled pepper flavour.…

About the brand

Originating from the La Altena Distillery which was founded by Don Felipe Camarena Hernandez in 1937, Tapatio Tequila was launched in 1940 and is a brand of 100% blue Weber agave tequila produced using traditional artisan methods for the highest quality. A stepbrother to world-renowned tequila brand El Tesoro de Don Felipe, Tapatio has gone on to win multiple awards including the 2013 Brands of Promise Award, the 2013 Lake Tahoe Food and Wine Judge's Choice Gold, and the 2014 Best Tequila from the Bartender's Best Awards, just to name a few. Tapatio Tequila offers various selections of premium tequila, including; Blanco, Reposado, Tapatio 110 Proof Blanco, and their Excelencia Gran Reserva Extra Anejo - a stunningly flavorful Anejo tequila matured for at least 4 years in a combination of undisclosed casks, depending on the batch. Tasting Notes

Nose

Modest agave, and black pepper, on the nose.

Taste

The body is initially hot. Nice balance on agave, lemon, sweetness, and Chile powder.

Finish

Touches of black pepper hit the back of the throat for the finish.
