Twin Wood 14 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey 750ml
A great limited edition single malt that has been firstly matured in ex-Bourbon casks before a final two year period in Oloroso Sherry casks. Named 'Twin Wood' because both Bourbon and Sherry cask types have been used for the maturation. It seems that the sherry casks have added to the body and depth and also brought some spice and dried fruit flavours. Like most of the current Knappogue Castle whiskeys this was made using unpeated, triple distilled single malt whiskey from a Northern Irish distillery.

About the brand
In 1966, Mark Edwin Andrews purchased Knappogue Castle, a 15th century castle in Ireland, which was then in ruins. He and his wife, a prominent architect, then embarked on an ambitious program of restoration, in an effort to return the structure to its original state of glory and grandeur. It was around this time that Andrews began buying casks of fine pot still whiskey from top distilleries in the country. The casks were further aged and bottled under what is now the Knappogue Castle label. His last bottling, a 1951 vintage aged 36 years, is revered by connoisseurs as the oldest and rarest commercially available Irish whiskey on the market. Many years later, his son, Mark Andrews III, would bring Knappogue 1951 and his father’s legacy to the United States and other international markets.

Knappogue Château is one of my preferred refineries in the bourbon world. What's more this one is no exemption. Green apple on the button and sense of taste. Vanilla on the completion. What's more it's an incredible completion. Surprisingly little liquor consume at 46%. This is probably the best an incentive in bourbon and one of my preferred Irish whiskies.

Anticipating is to such an extent... also great it was however more costly than red bosom here and not as great. Less multifaceted nature less layering. My sense of taste isn't refined however it was disheartened.
