1783 Bourbon 750ml
Created as an extension of the Evan Williams Black Label collection, Evan Williams 1783 bourbon is an ongoing, small batch release from Heaven Hills Distillery that is extra aged under a NAS labeling (composed of a blend of 6-8 year old bourbons) and has a finished barrel strength of 90% proof. Evan Williams 1783 bourbon is pulled from less than 300 barrels with a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% barley. The nose opens with a bough of classic charred oak, melted caramel, and creamy vanilla over leather and marshmallows. The palate offers more layers of vanilla, aged oak, and baked sugar blended with ribbons of caramel.

About the brand
In 1783, our namesake opened Kentucky’s First Distillery on the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, we still produce Bourbon the right way, using the same time-honored methods. Although bottled in Bardstown, the product is distilled at the Heaven Hill distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. The "standard issue" Evan Williams bourbon is sold as the mass-market "Black Label" variety. The company also bottles several other varieties, including a "White Label" that is bottled in bond, an "Evan Williams 1783" bourbon that is produced in more limited quantities, and a nine-year-old single barrel bourbon sold in vintage-dated bottles sealed with black wax. Occasionally available in some regions is a "Green Label" variety that is 80 proof and represents a younger, lighter-bodied version of the bourbon found in "Black Label" bottles at a more affordable price. As of 2010, Evan Williams was the second largest-selling brand of Kentucky straight bourbon (following the market-leading Jim Beam brand) and had the fastest-growing market share among the top-volume American whiskey brands (with a 12.4% sales growth rate), according to a press release issued by the producer citing A.C. Nielsen Scantrack 2010 data. Evan Williams Black is 43% alc/vol (86 U.S. proof), unlike some popular whiskeys which are bottled at the statutory minimum of 40% alc/vol (80 proof).

For $13 a jug his isnt awful and shockingly smooth. Ive never had a lot of loathe for EW in any case however this is a sensible modest Good old blender.

Ive had the Evan Williams Single Barrel and needed to do an examination since this one runs about half as much $ at a similar evidence. So the 1783 is a little on the watery side in the glass however marginally darker that the Single Barrel. The nose has cola a little rye cooked peanuts. With a sweet oaky vanilla note coming through. Furthermore a light corn note on further nosings. The mouthfeel is thicker than it glances in the glass. Practically rich. The sense of taste has some cola and light oak notes with a tad of nut. There is a decent zest on the rear of the sense of taste directly before you swallow. The completion is on the shorter side of medium or longer side of short. A slight sharpness springs up following gulping yet so does the flavor which I thoroughly consider takes any harshness. Not much waiting after around 8 seconds however you know you just drank some bourbon. In general not a terrible bourbon by any stretch of the imagination particularly at the cost! I found the Single Barrel being somewhat thicker yet significantly better than the 1783 with a couple of various notes like banana that were absent in the 1783. Theyre comparable yet I think the 1783s darker notes are somewhat more in accordance with what I like.

I concur with the tasting notes sweet with a cola like taste too. Not extraordinary but rather very much evaluated particularly on the off chance that you like sweet whiskeys.
