Using a selection of 5, 6, 7, 9, and 14 year old straight whisky, Barrell New Year (2022) is NAS whiskey finished in American white oak and was released in December 2021 with a 115.34 proof cask strength. The nose begins with the bright tanginess of nectarines and summer watermelon laced with key lime, white chocolate, and whippings of cream cheese. A truly unique bourbon profile unlike anything I've ever tasted. It almost resembles the sweet fruitiness of a finished bourbon even though no finishing barrels were used.
