The first edition Macallan Oscuro Single Malt, redesigned in 2015, is a silky, sherried scotch whisky from Macallan's Easter Elchies, Craigellachie Distillery and the 1824 Collection's magnum opus, released exclusively to travel-retail markets.

A Dark Sherried Malt

Translating to 'dark' in Spanish, the Oscuro is a distinctly 'Macallan' whisky, bottled at a punchy 93-proof and swimming in sherry thanks to its meticulous ageing process, spending a minimum of 18 years in the barrel before an additional 6 months of finishing in 'first fill' Oloroso Sherry Oak casks.

A Great Scotch Whisky

A deep, intense copper whisky, the Oscuro begins with creamy vanilla, ripe fruits and tart citrus, before a river of sherry washes through the palate, underpinned by fig, orange, crisp apple and subtle spice, before a lengthy sherried finish that lingers with warm oak.

"I've tried a lot of Macallan, Glendronach, Glenfarclas, Springbank, and this is easily in my top 3. I prefer sherried malts rather than smoke, and this is unbelievably good. Sweet, some spice, not overly dry but with lots of complexity. A great scotch"
