This accidental blend combines 51% 4-year-old MGP bourbon, 38.5% 17-year-old Bernheim bourbon, and 10.5% 4-year-old MGP corn whiskey—a mixture that occurred when barrels of precious aged Kentucky straight bourbon were mistakenly combined with much younger stock. The error transformed rather than marred the older bourbon, creating the first Orphan Barrel release without a double-digit age statement and the only one to incorporate corn whiskey into the blend. This unique composition showcases how even distilling mistakes can yield extraordinary results when handled by skilled blenders who recognize unexpected potential.
