Introduced to the UK in Summer 2010, Calle 23 is a 100% agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, the Los Altos region. Double-distilled in copper pot-stills to retain the true agave character, Calle 23 is a hit in upscale cocktail bars. Calle 23 Añejo is distilled in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, using 100% agave, and spends 16 months resting in ex-bourbon barrels. Ummm... this is abnormal. Tequila notes alongside sweet treat corn flavors show up cocoa popcorn and hot agony perdu blended in with incredibly unpretentious tropical organic products at that point the rye notes surge in rapidly excessively fast with a severe solid completion joined by compound notes. Possibly European oak would be better with tequila.

Nose

Carnival-style fudge with lots of vanilla and sugar. Hints of coffee and spice.

Taste

Oak, tobacco and black coffee. With these strong flavours, you expect it to be rough and tumble, but the Calle 23 Añejo is smooth as silk.

Finish

Slightly shorter than you would imagine.
