A Classic Reimagined Through Sherry

Originally released as a Taiwan exclusive in 2022, this distinguished 12-year-old blend incorporates legendary distilleries including Clynelish, Cardhu, and Caol Ila for its signature peated character. The traditional Black Label undergoes additional maturation in sherry-seasoned casks from Jerez, earning recognition with a Silver Medal at the 2023 International Spirits Challenge. The luminescent gold liquid displays impressive beading when swirled, hinting at the quality within before your first sip.

Smoke and Sherry

The nose presents sherry-influenced notes of dates, figs, almonds, and plums, alongside aromas of brown bread with salted butter. On the palate, robust smoke intertwines with softer sherry elements, complemented by a distinctive chalky texture and punctuated with warming ginger and mild chili heat. The lengthy finish leaves a delightful dry cinnamon impression.

This release feels like quite a step up from the well loved Johnnie Walker Black Label. The added finishing period really rounds off this expression with the sherry notes providing more depth and lifting the smoke to greater levels.
