Finished with 10 very distinct wood staves (Stave Profile RC6), the Maker's Mark® Wood Finishing Series 2019 Limited Release Bourbon was crafted to feature more pronounced fruit notes and a brighter finish while retaining the balance of baking spice and sweetness found in the original Maker's Mark®. This bourbon from Maker's Mark is one of the brand's Wood Finishing Series Limited Edition releases for 2019. Wood staves (dubbed RC6) sourced from the Independent Stave Company were selected which bring out fruit, sweetness, and barrel spices in the whiskey. These virgin American oak staves were seasoned for 18 months and then were baked in a conventional oven. Ten of these staves were added to a fully-matured cask strength Maker's Mark barrel for additional aging. Only 255 barrels were produced. Proof will range from 108.2-110.5 and will be available initially at the distillery and select Kentucky retailers as of September 2019. A nationwide release begins October 2019.…

Extraordinary stuff. Tasty and smooth. You can call me insane yet I got the chicken bones candy both on the button and taste. Possibly Ive had a lot of whiskey this evening yet it is tasty in any case!

Subsequent to finding Producers 46 some time back I was fascinated by the wood fight completing thought since I adored the 46. I likewise have a Private Select jug that has some comparable characteristics (various fights). So the RC6 was high on my rundown to look at! The nose has cinnamon newly heated bread maple syrup a smidgen of red apple and dim stone natural product. The sense of taste has a thicker sleek mouthfeel with cinnamon oak a smidgen of cowhide and some dim natural product. The completion is long with a better than average however welcome consume. It dries out the sense of taste a bit. I like this one. It is perceptibly not quite the same as my Private Select. I was figuring it may be nearer to the 46 yet I surmise thats what the container quality 46 is for (I wish that was promptly accessible). However I like what this has going on. I have to invest more energy with it however Im getting a charge out of it.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Baking spices, cinnamon, clove, ginger bread, wheat, soft apricot, red apple and a touch of ripe banana.

Taste

The red apple, raspberry and brighter notes comes first as tannins and baking spices come in. It starts to mellow into dessert tones like caramel and toffee.

Finish

Finally, a touch of chocolate covered banana ends it.
