2013 Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore is a deeply endowed red wine derived from a series of 4 grape varietals, namely; 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot. Harvested from the terroir of the Ornellaia Estate in the Maremma region of Tuscany Italy, this exceptionally crafted quaff is beloved for its bouquet of ripe black fruits, cut tobacco, and spice. Curated at the hands of gifted Italian winemaker Axel Heniz, 2013 Ornellaia Bolgheri is aged for a minimum of 18 months with a contact maceration period of 10-15 days during fermentation. Matured in 70% new/30%r refill oak barrels, this Tuscan beauty undergoes assembling at the 12 month mark after which it is re-barreled and left to finish for an additional 6 months. Once bottled, 2013 Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore is rested for a final 12 months before being released. Awarded 98 points by wine critic James Suckling, Ornellaia Bolgheri vintage 2013 offers aromatic tones of shaved ginger, smoke, and soft florals complementing a palate of spice, cream, and blackberries seasoned with vanilla.…

About the brand

OOrnellaia Winery was established in 1981, in the region of Bolgheir, Toscana, Italy. Long considered one of Italy's leaders in producing premium Bordeaux-style red wines, the estate was originally owned and operated by the Antinori family - with the help of legendary winemaker Tibo Gal. The brand released its first vintage in 1985 and grew in popularity throughout Italy and internationally. Catching the attention of the prestigious Robert Mondavi Winery, Ornellaia came under the ownership of Mondavi in 2002, with an interest controlled by the Frescobaldi family. Frescobaldi soon took control of the entire estate in 2005 and recruited the expertise of wine master Axel Heinz and oenologist Michel Rolland. Building on this extraordinary foundation, Ornellaia Winery offers several award-winning varietals, including its signature Orenllaia Bolgheri Superiore Rosso, the Le Serre Nuove Dell'Ornellaia Rosso, and bottlings of both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blends.
