The Astar Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
According to Dr. Bill, head whisky master for Glenmorangie the Astar Highland Single Malt is made from 'slow growth, air seasoned, heavily toasted, lightly charred, ex-bourbon, American oak barrels.' Astar doesn't have an age statement, but estimates put it at around 9-10 years old With more dynamism than the standard 10 year old, the Astar is a single malt many have fallen in love with. Sample its spicy, creamy and warm notes to fall in love with it too.

About the brand
Produced by the Glenmorangie Distillery of Tain Ross-shire Scotland - known for having the tallest stills in the country, Glenmorangie is a renowned brand of single malt Scotch first released in 1987. The Glenmorangie Distillery was founded in 1843 by William Matheson, a former distillery manager, who later sold the facility to a family firm in Leith called Macdonald and Muir in 1918. The internationally acclaimed beverage manufacturer, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, purchased Glenmorangie in 2004 and rebranded the entire line with a focus on luxury merchandising and overseas marketing. Glenmorangie’s product line-up includes various aged vintages, rare extra-matured bottlings, and highly-collectible special edition and specialty cask-finished whiskies. This award-winning Scotch whisky has been the best-selling single malt in Scotland since its founding and now holds 6% of the world’s shares in the single malt market overall.

Merits credit for being so smooth at such a high confirmation yet not one of the better Glenmorangie contributions. Sweet trailing sensation extremely green on the sense of taste in any case.

I truly wish I preferred this at the refinery it was uncommon and estimated well and container quality yet had an extremely forward consume not only an after consume restorative would have gotten a kick out of the chance to attempt it with water yet wound up with the Duthac 1 liter for somewhat less and tasted way better

I chose to go through my solitary night off of stir this week by riding up to the huge city (Richmond VA) and hit up my nearby huge whisky pub and restaurant which unexpectedly is called McCormacks Enormous Whisky Barbecue. A major platter of custom made macintosh and cheddar with pulled pork bar-b-que heaped high on top fit the bill for my protesting stomach and I chose to attempt this new NAS Glenmorangie in the event that I discovered it was deserving of a purchase. Causing me a deep sense of enjoyment call it Christmas soul Macintosh (the proprietor/barkeep) chose to give me the first Astar from 2008 rather than the new discharge. A $28 pour (the 2008) for $12 (the 2017) cost. Joyful Christmas to me. This unique adaptation was developed in ex-whiskey barrels from the Ozark Heaps of Missouri. Theres no sign which whiskey refinery they were sourced from however on the off chance that the nose is any sign Id surmise they were potentially from Four Roses. The nose here is stunning: tropical organic products marzipan pleasantness very scent y before uncovering delicately toasted oak. I could smell this one throughout the day and be charmed. The sense of taste is at first rich smooth. Orange cream and vanilla beginning things out very well-nearly dessert-like. Be that as it may at that point a superb hot cinnamon note shows up and puts the whole sense of taste involvement with check. Theres a touch of brutality as it wraps up. The completion is medium long oaky and sweet. I feel like some caramel or toffee balances the last tasting notes and leaves you truly fulfilled and cheerful. On the off chance that all NAS whiskies resembled this one I dont think youd hear as much whining Id absolutely greet them wholeheartedly. This stated I need to state this may wind up being my most loved Glenmorangie to date. I havent been a major fanatic of this refinery yet this one absolutely changes my general take. Presently I need to start looking for the more seasoned jugs of Astar so I can add 1 to my assortment. I hear they are going for some place north of $200. The new discharge is near $100 so perhaps I should check out that one to check whether they recovered any of this 2008s greatness. With no guarantees this container is a reverberating 4.25-4.5 stars. On the off chance that you see it out in your movements Id suggest checking out it. Strong great stuff without a doubt. Cheers my companions.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Honeycomb and caramel, with a hint of peaches in syrup underneath.
Taste
Touches of nutmeg and ginger bring the heat to the palate. Still rich in honey'd malt, joined by toasted pecan and hazelnut cream.
Finish
Salted fudge, vanilla ice cream (a hint of ice cream cone, too) and mint leaf.
