30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
Akin to taking a long, soul shivering draft of peat-rich smoke, Laphroaig 30 year old single malt scotch is a tone-forward treasure that is beyond the label of ‘to savor’ – it’s the kind of excellence you not just want, but need in your collection of masterfully refined liquors. Entering the senses with an aroma full of peat and phenol, this whiskey soon follows with a nose full of tar and a bite of bitter iodine and resin. Hints of fruit and sherry softly kiss for a little enticement. The flavor is sweet and very rich with more notes of dark, dewy peat over layers of oak soaked in sherry and peppery spice. A last touch of smoke enrobes your tongue as you are slowly pulled towards a finish that holds more whispers of fruit, a dash of herbs, dried bacon and a bough of earth. Laphroaig 30 year old single malt scotch whiskey wallows you in an expressive draft that seems to span both sweet and savory with bites of peat, fruit, and roasted wood.

About the brand
Laphroaig is a highly-acclaimed brand of premium Islay single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Larphoraig Distillery, founded in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston. The brand has changed hands multiple times over the years beginning in the 1960s until it was purchased by Beam Suntory of Suntory Holdings in 2014. Laphroaig is recognized as producing some of the most deeply flavored Scotch whiskies on the market and is the only whisky to carry the Royal Warrant of the Prince of Wales, awarded in 1994. The brand offers a range of products including several very rare and expensive expressions such as their discontinued 18 year old iteration (last offered in 2015). Notably, Laphroaig is unlike many other blended Scotch makers in that it malts its own barley. The barley is finished in special kilns with over 205 years of seasoning – leaving a truly defining note that Laphroaig fans have come to know and crave.

Alter: the accompanying audit is for a more seasoned discharge at 43%ABV bought in 2008. In the Glass: Brilliant syrup. On the Button: Huge. Sea Sherry with a background of sweet smoke. You can tell this is a more seasoned malt as it smells precisely like what I would expect Laphroaig's development distribution center to resemble: wood smoke Sherry and the ocean. It resembles finding your granddad's old coat where he kept funnel tobacco years after he's last worn it. Taste: Echoes a great deal of the nose yet the smoke is really minimized. The peat here is more marsh than chimney. Long advancement of flavors with the Sherry notes starting to lead the pack. Dried organic product. Dull earthy colored sugar. The completion turns enjoyably harsh which sets up the pleasantness of the following taste pleasantly. It sticks to your tongue enduring minutes after the glass is vacant. Breathing out through your nose after a taste helps me to remember the perishing coals of an open air fire. This is absolutely Bowmore 15's more seasoned more tasteful sibling. Completely splendid stuff. I have an extremely difficult time envisioning a superior whisky experience than this.

This was remarkable. Thick mouthfeel with rich flavor and not close to as much peat true to form. 4.6.

Truly delighted in this. Fruity particularly tropical natural products yet sweet not sharp. Some firm green apples however once more the newness not the sharp notes. Truly balanced flavors. Sweet nectar. Furthermore obviously the peat and smoke to adjust the sweet and organic product. Substantially more smooth than the more youthful releases of Laphroaig yet very delectable... this is the reason I love single malt whisky!
