About the brand
The Longmorn Distillery Company was founded in 1893 by John Duff, Charles Shirres and George Thomson. Duff was a former manager of the Glendronach Distillery and the Bon Accord Distillery in Aberdeen, and was the founder of the Glenlossie Distillery, as well as being involved with unsuccessful distilleries in Cape Town and the USA. Longmorn Distillery started production in December 1894. Three years later John Duff built the Benriach Distillery next to Longmorn, but both were affected by the collapse of wholesale buyers Pattison, Elder and Co. in 1898. Duff was ruined by the collapse, and Longmorn Distilleries Company Ltd. passed through a variety of ownerships. In 1970, Longmorn joined The Glenlivet and Glen Grant to form The Glenlivet Distillers Ltd. This was bought by Chivas Brothers in 1978 and in 2001 Chivas Brothers was acquired by the French Pernod Ricard Group.

Incredibly good value, Longmorn is a lesser known distillery but an outstanding one nonetheless

Stop number 58 on the SDT is Longmorn. This is my first from this lesser known Speyside refinery. Packaged at 48% ABV non chill separated and regular shade of golden gold. No issues up until now. Early introduction on the button is this will be thick and substantial. Dim sherry notes. Gritty mineral notes like wet stones on a sea shore this could be some light peat talking. Caramel apples and maple syrup. Sure feels like a sherry bomb to me. Pears plums and raisins. It goes somewhat sideways here with consumed oak charcoal and blurred smoke however these notes dont stick around excessively long. Somewhat mint and licorice and fennel. Wood tar cherry pie filling and saltine wafers. Nectar tea orange strip a little banana and a dash of new calfskin. This thing is everywhere and doesnt truly appear to be durable. A little water smooths it out while drawing out somewhat more pleasantness. A fairly hot appearance on the sense of taste from the higher ABV. Cinnamon apples and grape/cherry hack syrup. Marginally astringent. Dry oak green oak tannins and clove. Consumed toffee and caramel severe dull chocolate and dim sherry. Not as a very remarkable sherry bomb on the sense of taste as I was anticipating. Nectar plums cowhide and natural minerals and peat. No smoke to talk about. Water doesnt truly transform anything besides restrains the power. Medium-full bodied mouthfeel sleek however dry. A long completion. Dry oak sherry cherry hack syrup and somewhat harsh. This is an exceptionally odd Speysider. Senses that it would have come out of Campbeltown or an Island refinery. A peculiar blend of flavors and altogether different than the greater part of the scotch coming out of Speyside. Everywhere and confused. Is by all accounts confounded about what style it needs to be. Some great and some terrible yet for the most part great I presume. Its intricate just not firm the flavors dont all function admirably together. Some may adore this one some may loathe it. With respect to me 3.25. On account of @Telex for the example. Good wishes

Nectar and white chocolate. Contact of sugar coated natural product that opens up as it sits in the glass. A couple of drops of water brings marshmallow and the organic products front and center. Sensitive and mind blowing.

Driving through the examples of our little Scottish Refinery exchanging group ( name is somewhat of a misnomer since a considerable lot of our non-official examples have been definitely not Scottish) I thought of attempting this one gave by Wire. This is actually an exceptional monster. It's exquisite not zesty as certain malts or even that Sherry sweet as others. However appetizing as in an Indian flavor blend of ginger turmeric ground coriander seeds ( not to be mistaken for coriander leaves which are home grown). Maybe my mother opened up her flavors to make samosas or aloo gobi . Strong measure yet you need to go in needing that appetizing samosa taste; in case you're anticipating zesty or sweet you'll be either frustrated or astounded. Note to all Indian and South Asian gourmet experts and cooks: in the event that you come up short on your masala blend simply include a measure of this into your samosas. Much appreciated Message

Longmorn 16 | 54.4 abv | Duncan Taylor assortment N - cherry coconut cream with water get citrus perhaps orange open field dust T - organic product wood zest with water some shrouded flower notes F - so much pepper sweet hard natural product candy Generally speaking loved it the nose was more energizing than the taste. Heaps of flavor on the taste and solid peppery get done with progressively fragile notes covered up underneath. With this being harder to discover I needed to check out it. For the district I think it stands apart as something novel.
