About the brand
Founded in 1982, St. George Single Malt Whiskey is a handcrafted American original. Beginning as a one-man operation, Since its founding, St. George has developed a reputation as one of America’s pioneering craft distillers. The Alameda, CA- based distillery itself is situated inside a World War II airplane hangar which enjoys views across the stunning San Francisco bay. Founder Jörg Rupf, whose family has a history in distilling, originally moved to the Bay Area from Germany. Rupf started out by bringing authentic fruit brandies to the U.S. He utilized the state’s fruits, whilst simultaneously introducing the concept of craft distilling to the country. Then the distillery was a tiny production facility with tasting tables “jerry-rigged on sawhorses”. Now it stands as a 65,000-square-foot hangar with a enormous tasting room, laboratory, and a lineup of the most beautiful copper stills in the industry. As its success has grown, St. George has expanded its portfolio extensively. Beginning with yearly releases of single malt whiskey, it has moved into absinthe verte to some of the most acclaimed gins in the world: Botanivore Gin, Dry Rye Gin and an unparalleled tribute to Bay Area botanicals, Terroir Gin. And although St. George has moved into equally acclaimed spirits, it is its Single Malt that keeps attracting the accolades: With 1001 Whiskies You Must Taste Before You Die claiming that it “might just be the best U.S. single malt available today”; Paste Magazine feeling “able to mount a strong argument for being the best single malt in America” and The Los Angeles Times describing it as “like no other whiskey ever. A rainbow of sweet fruit and flower aromas you can scarcely believe come from grain, and an amazing smoothness on the palate”, this whisky is surely one to try.

This in any case fine gin has the mishap of arriving in a testing pack with the Botanivore and Terroir gins from a similar refinery. On the off chance that these three gins were the Corleone siblings this one would tragically be Fredo. Possibly its simply misconstrued or endures by examination however the enjoyably dill and flavor takes note of that come through from the rye distillate sufficiently arent to give this one as characterized a character. Besides theres a touch of a drunkard brutality here thats not present with its other gin kin in the pack. I dont despise it yet Im not going to surge out to purchase a full size container either.

Incredible straight stay away from it with tonic. Ginger lager or unpleasant lemon would be incredible.

Nose: A natural oat and marginally cardboard/pressed wood smell. Fragrant in a dry gritty way and inquisitively not at all like gin. A little citrus and juniper yet it's the zesty oat fragrances that rule. After some time some green verdant natural notes develop. Sense of taste: Peppery and hot with coriander cumin fenugreek and other seed-flavors overwhelming the profile. Finish: Medium/long: Hot and fresh. The nose is extremely suggestive of new-make bourbon. Is this even a genuine gin? I can barely make out juniper by any stretch of the imagination. By and by it is exceptionally charming and St. George are to be praised for their experimentation. I very like it however it's unquestionably not your normal gin. With tonic it is amazingly similar to some barrel matured gins I've attempted (it helps me specifically to remember Masculine Spirits Oak Container Matured Gin) and some more pleasantness develops alongside a trace of juniper. It's a procured preference for a G&T however in the event that you do like it I'd suggest attempting some container developed gin - you may have hooked onto something that truly works for your sense of taste. Better than expected" : 3 stars."
