18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml
In 1839, Alexander Matheson sought the perfect location for his new distillery. With his only criteria as finding the best natural resources to make the finest whisky, he settled on an isolated area on the banks of the Cromarty Firth. And so, The Dalmore was born. Uniquely using irregular shaped stills, Dalmore believes that they produce a stronger and more complex character to their whiskies. Their spirits are charactered with deep copper colour and flavours of crushed almonds, cinnamon, ginger and citrus. The Dalmore 18 Year Old Single Malt holds bolder notes than its younger siblings, offering a robust and full spirit. With flavours of dark chocolate, candied citrus and an oaky finish, it is one to be enjoyed at any occasion.

About the brand
Established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, Dalmore is a brand of acclaimed highland single malt Scotch produced by the renowned Dalmore Distillery in Scotland. The brand was family run until 1960 when one of its primary customer’s, Whyte & Mackay, took control of the company. At the time, Dalmore mainly consisted of a 12 year old iteration - however the brand has since expanded its range to include 15, 18, and 25 year old single malts, as well as a variety of specialty NAS releases. Dalmore’s rare selections include such offerings as the rare Dalmore’s King Alexander III; a unique wood finished bottling matured in 6 hand-selected wine and port casks. Another select edition, Dalmore Trinitas, was first released in 2010 and yielded a mere three bottles – selling for a reported $100,000 - $120,000 each. The brand was purchased by Philippines-based Emperador Inc in 2014 and continues their legacy of highly-collectible single malt whiskey today.

Chocolate secured oranges fruity rich. Marginally tannic similar to high sulfite red wine. I like Dalmore however a slight severe completion leaves it from truly being a best 5 headliner. Its like a NBA Star that exceeds expectations at everything except for blocks the free toss (Shaq?). I know Im being critical however Its a premium malt...so desires are high. Magnificent whisky however only a touch short from significance. Much appreciated @LeeEvolved for the pour !

Surely a Speyside soul with nectar and sugar coated organic products in abundance. The completion draws out a tar taste not a negative as it gives a one of a kind heartiness to this magnificent measure.

Along these lines it happens that this container was picked to be opened in festivity of my birthday fourteen days back. My amigo Paul recommended I let destiny choose after we both amassed a short rundown of 8 fabulous jugs to browse for my festival. In the soul of College basketball I did a section style rivalry utilizing coin flips to show up at the Dalmore 18. This good country malt was packaged at 43% and in the customary style of Dalmore-is chill separated and has added shading to make it a gleaming ruby and copper blend. I paid just shy of $185 when I purchased this jug two or three years back. The nose is a staggering equalization of dull chocolate toffee sweet sherry and a trace of oak. The nose is extremely welcoming and tasty. The sense of taste is chocolate and toffee rich while remaining to some degree sleek. The bitterest sherry notes attack around mid taste and give this measure its lone strikes. The wood nibbles you toward the back too. The completion is long woody and severe. The warmth constructs gradually and surpasses the sharpness and drives it away which is an invite thing IMO. I included a little water in the expectations it would kill the harshness. It permitted more chocolate to come through on the button quieted a portion of the unpleasant oak on that sense of taste however it executed all the warmth on the completion which I didnt truly like. Generally speaking this experiences a similar issue Ive had with pretty much every Dalmore Ive attempted to this point-the sense of taste feels more unforgiving than it should. This being 18 years of age ought not experience the ill effects of indistinguishable inadequacies from a youthful or NAS whisky. This must be something legitimately attached to the genuine soul itself and not the barrels completes and so on. It makes me cautious to attempt the more seasoned containers I have in my assortment: the Lord Alexander and the 25yo. I feel like theyre going to endure a similar destiny. This is a strong 4 star measure however eventually Dalmore ought to inch higher they just arent. Thats what makes this a mistake. I need a 5 star Dalmore hell.

I really want to contrast it with my Dalmore 12. I got it for $120. It costs more than twice than the 12 however IMO causes it to okay with being a progressively mind boggling and pleasant measure. The 12 is a day by day sipper this one could as well notwithstanding the cost. This turned into my fave Dalmore that I would serve just on unique occassions. I realize this occasionally be discovered costing north of $200. At that value point I would not get it again however I energetically suggest this on the off chance that you can get it near MSRP.
