Many things get better with age, and this rum is no exception. They age their white rum like a bourbon for at least two years in virgin American oak barrels, introducing hints of toffee and caramel that give way to flavors of vanilla and tobacco. The result is a spirit that lends itself to classic whiskey cocktails with a rum twist, but we prefer it served neat. And sipped slowly. Gluten Free. Three Sheets Rum is made by fermenting organic evaporated cane sugar, which is best known as raw unrefined sugar. It is fermented by a proprietary yeast strain and distilled through a custom built hybrid pot/column still. By using raw sugar, Ballast Point has obtained a rum of great distinction with subtle sweet flavors. And no, they do not add any flavoring to the rum!
