About the brand
In the early 19th century, due to the heavy taxes on spirit production imposed by the government, many whisky producers were forced to operate illegally. The area around Glengoyne was full of hills and forests which provided excellent cover for the distillers. Records show that at least eighteen illicit whisky stills were operating in the area. In the 1820s an Act of Parliament was passed, which reduced the cost of the licence required to distil, and the duty payable on spirit sales. Shortly after the introduction of the 'Excise Act of 1823' (or 'Walsh Act') the first of these illicit stills came into official existence, with Glengoyne following later in 1833. Although Glengoyne only officially existed from 1833 and no records exist from before this date, it is believed that distilling on the site pre-dates that with a local historian writing that the smoke of "illicit stills" was visible in the area in the early 19th century.

In this way I think I'll be doing a container kill week soon however with counting calories it may be increasingly a month (attempting to curtail drinks during the week). At any rate this one is on that rundown with around 3-4 pours left (preservationist pours). So lets get into this one plainly I should like it if it's close to death. Shading - I will in general maintain a strategic distance from this however as it's an a brand know for sherry...its' quite brilliant. Presently that said this one is a blend of sherry and whiskey with more spotlight on the whiskey barrels from the mark. So in any event for me this was my second purchase from Glengoyne thus far my two purchases weren't sherry bombs (I have had the 25 which is and is stunning). So only an admonition for the individuals who may be anticipate that their stuff should be all sherry it isn't. Nose - vanilla and oak without a doubt. Pineapple and white sugars. A decent twirl gives me a touch of berry. I get a touch of liquor which I didn't expect at 43%. Taste - vanilla tropical organic products oak some zest some treats progressively vanilla heated merchandise. I truly think this is a quality whisky and it drinks substantially more full bodied than the 43% would show which is an immense success for me. I anyway extremely can't legitimize another container for me which makes this is in the slaughter zone somewhat pitiful. This is quality whisky and yet somewhat exhausting. I went into this one searching for sherry and I didn't get it. I returned searching for an incredible whiskey finish and I got the vanillas however I didn't get the intricacy I need there either. This is a great case of a 2 star whisky for me. Everything is acceptable about it however nothing is uncommon. It's somehow or another a decent cost for the age and the utilization of some sherry barrels yet it's kinda likewise over evaluated. I'll need to return to them yet I felt the 12 was more what I needed from the brand. Anyway if this is your profile I think this is a sensible purchase on the off chance that you need to wander into something new yet else I'd not search for this one.

Rich and smooth yummy and simple to like. Not a great deal going on yet what is there I truly preferred. This is the perfect inverse of the Ardbeg I had a day or two ago if you catch my drift. Delighted in a measure at @pkplatypus house on a Monday night.
