Ambassadors Choice 16 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey 750ml
Notes about Whiskey: A super single malt, double distilled at the Cooley Distillery using its unusually shaped copper pot stills (small in size and long in neck) giving the whisky and copper lots of contact that resulted in a refined and layered spirit. This Tyrconnell was then bottled at 46% ABV, after it was aged for 16 years in ex-American oak bourbon barrels in a 200 year-old granite warehouse. Most Irish whiskey consumed in the U.S. is blended, and Ireland’s single pot still whiskeys enjoy a cult following. However, Irish single malts, including Tyrconnell 16 year old, are often unfairly overshadowed by their Scottish neighbors. This limited-edition whiskey, made entirely with Irish barley, is double distilled in pot stills like most scotch, then aged in bourbon barrels. Tyrconnell is named for a racehorse, but this whiskey is slow and steady: it’s soft and gentle, yet full-flavored, with warming vanilla, graham cracker, and citrus notes, and rounded spice.

About the brand
The Tyrconnell is a historic brand of whiskey that has been revived by the Cooley Distillery (which is now part of Beam Suntory). The brand was previously owned by the Watt Distillery, which (according to the company) dates back to 1762. The Tyrconnell was their flagship brand, and was named after a racehorse owned by Andrew Alexander Watt. The horse was a chestnut colt that won at 100 to 1 odds in 1876 in the Irish horse race called The National Produce Stakes. A horse race is depicted on the label.

The nose has delightful light fruity fragrances honeycomb shortbread sugar treats lemon pizzazz and vanilla which gives the impression of lemon cake. Theres likewise traces of new crushed squeezed orange and fiery cedar wood. - To the sense of taste it has a light fruity pleasantness joined by complex flavors and wood flavors. Squeezed orange orange strip nectar pears light grain malt and vanilla. - The completion is rich and slick with proceeding with notes of wood flavor alongside the delicate pleasantness. Dry oak with a slight smoky barrel roast waiting toward the end.‚ Malt Imprint: 92‚" I truly like this one! Additionally it went very well with the dim hearty flavor of the stogie. I will be keen on attempting more articulations of this flawless Irish Single Malt!"
