A sublime blend of bourbons aged between 10 and 20 years, Wild Turkey's Master's Keep Decades is one of the Kentucky Distiller's finest limited-edition offerings and arguably their best release of the last 10 years. Composed of a mashbill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, the Decades clocks in at 104 proof and was released in 2017 to commemorate Master Distiller Eddie Russell's 35th Anniversary, using some of the rarest barrels in the McBrayer rickhouse. The result is a stunningly complex and complete sipping whiskey with classic bourbon undertones. About the brand

A brand born and raised in Kentucky, Wild Turkey's name is a stamp of quality the world over. Distributing their bourbon through wholesalers in the early 1900s, the brand's name was conceived when one of their wholesalers took several warehouse samples on a wild turkey hunting trip where the bourbon was hugely popular. Since then, Wild Turkey has gone on to dominate as one of Kentucky's most famous and acclaimed bourbon whiskeys, bottling countless mature aged, straight, single barrel, and cask finished varieties. Whatever your taste, Wild Turkey is sure to satisfy and is a staple of any good whiskey cabinet.

Tasting Notes

Nose

An expressive and gratifying nose of typical Wild Turkey aromas consisting of toffee, orange peel, and caramel. Oak and butterscotch provide a rich base along with another aroma that’s hard to pin down.

Taste

The flavors repeatedly bounce from sweeter notes, to oaky ones, before settling on strong baking spice notes. If the sweeter notes were more prominent like they often were with older Wild Turkey releases, this palate would be top notch.

Finish

A long finish that’s bold with its oak and spice notes. There is a bit of clove, tannins, and ethanol on the aftertaste that counters the better aspects of the finish.
