Blend of first fill sherry casks that encompass nearly three different decades of distillation. 29% of the whisky comes from 27 year old casks, 35% comes from 10 year old casks and 36% comes from 7 year old casks. From the Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan, the Ohishi Sherry Cask is a whisky distilled from rice and aged in first and second-fill sherry casks. The Ohishi Distillery uses at least 30% gohyakumanishi rice grown on its own fields, rounded out with mochi rice Kumamoto. Tasting Notes

Nose

Very warm, high alcohol presence. Much like a very young single malt. Notes of brown sugar and dried flowers.

Taste

Sweet on the front end, floral progressing through the finish. Flavors of black licorice candy and spiced gumdrops. Hint of clove.

Finish

The finish is quite floral, somewhat reminiscent of some Speyside malts and high-rye bourbons. Medium burn. Bright and warm throughout the finish.
