Made from 5 casks of Ohishi Sherry and 5 casks of Ohishi Brandy and finished for more than 1 year in ex-Islay (bourbon) barrels, This whiskey is aged for seven years. Ohishi Islay Cask Finish started out life as two ex-Brandy casks which were fully matured over several years before being transferred to a cask that previously held an Islay whisky. By which they mean it previously held a heavily peated whisky, the exact distillery the cask came from was never released, but that’s not overly important really as this is the first batch, the success of which will pave the way for future releases. It was finished in that Islay cask for 8 months.…

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet nose with hints of pears, honey, vanilla and malt, and a lovely peaty background.

Taste

Honey-forward palate, notes of vanilla, pears and peat, followed by sweetness that reminds of Sake. Spice and tropical fruits wrap up the flavors.

Finish

Long and smoky finish with hints of vanilla and fruit.
