Four Grain Bourbon 750ml
This grain-to-glass bourbon is a distinctly Rochester New York spirit, crafted onsite at the Black Button distillery, from start to finish. Black Button 4 Grain is a grain-to-glass bourbon made from a locally sourced mash bill of 60% corn, 20% wheat, 9% rye, and 11% malted barley. A distinctly Rochester New York spirit, crafted onsite at the Black Button distillery. The grains for the bourbon are shipped to the distillery from a farm just south of their facility. This bourbon is a bonafide craft spirit. The Black Button Distillery is a small business set up and run by Jason Barrett, which takes its name from his family’s long history of producing buttons for men’s suits. Barrett broke tradition, and instead of taking over his grandfather’s button factory, he turned to distilling. Barrett opened the distillery at the age of just 24, in 2013. Back then, it produced just one Gin and a couple of moonshines (or white Whiskies). Today, the distillery’s portfolio has expanded to include three Bourbons, a Vodka, and another two Gins due for release in 2017.

Visited the refinery and attempted their whiskey trip at the appealing little bar they've set up (you can get mixed drinks and so on made with their items also yippee!) Flight right now incorporates this Four Grain as the pattern" offering a Solitary Barrel variant of the 4 Grain and a Port Completed articulation checking in at 110.8 proof and $100 a container. Normal 4 Grain truly outstanding for an adolescent like some of Repository Refinery's determinations in Richmond VA yet gone nonconformist with the extra grains - a past audit referenced "hot hardware" as a taste and I am in understanding. Fun. Single Barrel is a stage up with just a trace of that back-throat tip-of-tongue home brew discharge and increasingly woody perfection (in any event in regards to the current group #200.) Port Completion I don't know I would dish out $100 for yet it's a long way from a bombed endeavor; including an OK portion of water opens it up pleasantly offering access to the chocolate cherry notes touted by the barkeep and in that it's my best of the lot. Additionally the pours are liberal and they give you pretzels to chomp... not terrible for $14 on the off chance that you can get over here."

This one is intriguing. I can't tell if it's whiskey Scotch or something other than what's expected by and large. What I like about dissident whiskies is that they push the limits and make something entirely unexpected. They need to as it were - they don't have the advantage of having the option to manage the cost of saving their soul for a long time put away so they get imaginative. I don't know how to depict the aroma...sort of a blend of vehicle oil electronic sparkle and linseed oil. In a great manner. Flavor: youthful woody...with a powerful portion of mint vanilla caramel and..there it is..now I'm getting that whiskey pleasantness. This isn't for everyone...it's not your run of the mill bourbon - it is possible that you'll like it or you'll think what the hell is this?!!?" Actually - I like it - so very different...sort of like having Mezcal for the first time...just an alternate mammoth. Topography Jack - thank you for this experience! Expanded my viewpoint to something very surprising."

Tasting Notes
Nose
A pleasant nose – hints of fennel, blackberry, and new-car smell.
Taste
An interesting palate. It comes on strong and sharp on the tip of the tongue, a bit harsh and acrid – think wood smoke, liquorish, and orange bitters. It hits the back of the tongue next with a wave of mild sweetness – you can really taste that malted barley here.
Finish
The finish comes on surprisingly smooth – especially considering how sharply the flavor first hits – with just a hint of melon as the dram rides its way out.
