291 Colorado Rye is the flagship product from Distillery 291 in Colorado Springs. This rye whiskey is a single barrel release distilled in a copper pot still, made from a mash bill showcasing malted rye and corn. After approximately one year maturation, it's then finished with charred aspen staves, the distillery's signature treatment. 291 Colorado Rye Single Barrel is bottled at 50.8% ABV. All the way from Colorado comes Distillery 291's Single Barrel Rye, which is made with a mashbill of 61% malted rye and 39% corn. Following distillation, the spirit is allowed to age in American white oak casks for a year and is finished with aspen staves before being bottled. It's excellent stuff, and has received accolades which confirm that, including the World's Best Rye at the World Whiskies Awards 2018. Distillery 291 is a whiskey distillary in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Distillery 291 produces grain-to-glass whiskey from a small production facility. Two of its best-known whiskeys are 291 Colorado Rye Whiskey and 291 Colorado Bourbon Whiskey. Both brands are charcoal mellowed with Colorado aspen staves. One of the smoothest make ryes Ive ever had.

I believe I'm one of the anomalies on this one. It helps me to remember the Balcones I had... the taste profile being very full on one dimensional and fake. The spearmint profile of which I'm not a fan doesn't help. I got varnish and wood stick on the button. Taste was better yet didn't help I had after Bunnahabhain 25 I surmise with all its multifaceted nature and nuance. I'm battling to perceive how this won such a significant number of grants possibly like Balcones I missed the greatness time frame. That spearmint is simply unreasonably overwhelming for me..
