The Macallan Double Cask 30 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the latest to take the throne in the Double Cask range - overthrowing its predecessor, the 25 year old Double Cask, with superb and undeniable grace. Keeping to the Double Cask aging methodology, this masterful single malt is aged in a combination of hand-selected American oak and sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. The virgin American oak is first assembled in Spain and sherry-seasoned for up to 18 months before being sent back to the Macallan for maturation. The distillate is then married to European ex-Oloroso sherry casks and aged for a minimum of 30 years. Bottled at 43% ABV and released annually, expect aromatic layers of sweet honeycomb, toffee, apples, juicy figs, and vanilla.
