Ardbog Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml
Made on the small, remote Scottish Isle of Islay for over 200 years Ardbeg whisky has been called 'as close to perfection as makes no difference.' Another limited edition from Ardbeg, the Ardbog Single Malt was released during the Feis Ile whisky festival and created for 'Ardbog Day', which was celebrated around the globe in in June 2013. Aged in a mixture of bourbon and Manzanilla sherry casks, this single malt is an outstanding Ardbeg that departs from the classic profile of the Uigeadail with emphasis on sherry tones whilst allowing the peppery flavors traditionally associated with Ardbeg to creep through.

Ardbog has one of the coolest and most interesting boxes around. The front highlights a delightful blade a bronze piece purportedly uncovered close Oa. As the content illuminates us Cut 3 foot into the swamp and you'll have delved 1000 years into the past. Burrow further and you'll find peat shaped from ancient vegetation - the substance of Ardbeg." The sides contain extra pictures of archeological or paleontological finds from Islay including old coins protective caps and fossils. One of them a fossilized nautilus is "an early individual from the Shellfish MacDougall progenitors of Ardbeg's organizers." Ha! In the glass Ardbog is the shade of cutting edge rust. Ardbog has smells of Woodford Hold whiskey balls: walnut and chocolate encompassing a whiskey injected filling. The Manzanilla includes dim sweet notes of chocolate and toffee or caramel all through as opposed to the jam or dried-organic product aroma that originates from different kinds of sherry. There's a solid eruption of verdant smoke flavor and calfskin leaving no uncertainty with respect to the intensely peated nature of this single malt. On the sense of taste the main flavors are of a peat-bound nectar and afterward I get a mix of ocean shower and blossoms that I'm going to begin calling "spring Ardbeg." also there's some reflected on wine grapefruit iodine and phenols from the peat. That exemplary Ardbeg citrus is still here which bodes well since this is 60% Ardbeg 10. The sense of taste has an unpleasant hot edge to it on certain tastes and more smoke than Ardbeg 10. Ardbegs will in general separate themselves with complex completions especially when sherry gets included and Ardbog is the same. Licorice cream and solid smoke are the initial barely any flavors. It's somewhat unpleasant and natural as the grapefruit comes around the primary turn with the lead. This is one of the smokiest "robusto" Ardbegs I've had. Is Ardbog my most loved Ardbeg ever? I think not in spite of the fact that it isn't exceptionally a long way from my top picks as Ardbeg Day or Dull Inlet. This is one of the Ardbeg unique releases that gains its keep instead of simply paying for the pay rates of LVMH's heavenly promoting division."

A sherry-covered Uigeadail fruitier on the button than my Ardbeg leading figure and syrupier on the completion. The sweet peat reveals the glass a thick fog off a muggy swamp. A taste fills the mouth like a boozy Dark Woodland gateau huge and blustering and covers the throat with a treacly path that is at last unreasonably sweet for my sense of taste. Happy I surrendered to the impulse to open this old procurement yet not certain I'll be picking it over the Oogy again and again.
