MGP Ingredients continues its journey into Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) distilled spirits with the launch of Eight & Sand Blended Bourbon Whiskey. MGP says their latest release is a blend of bourbons and whiskies inspired by the American railroad. Eight & Sand was launched in MGP Ingredients hometown of Atchison, Kansas at the Atchison Railroad Museum, home to the 811 locomotive. The 811 is featured on the Eight & Sand label. Eight & Sand refers to the eighth (and fastest) notch on a locomotive’s throttle and the sand used on the wheels to prevent slipping. To wish a train crew an “Eight & Sand” is akin to “smooth sailing.” Eight & Sand celebrates the timeless journey along the American railway with a classic tribute whiskey crafted by the MGP Distillery team in historic Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Flawless. Neck pour. Exemplary MGP nose and extremely fragrant for just 88 proof. Sweet flavors with a trace of oak and pepper. Vanilla light caramel and butterscotch. Trace of berries and cream. Smooth and practically rich mouth feel. Light surface however slick as well. Very little flavor on the tongue. Light pleasantness however in any case quieted some barrel flavor and vanilla. The taste is delightful and extremely splendid and sweet. Vanilla and light caramel. Light smooth chocolate on the legs. Its 88 proof and $30. Cant dismiss that. In view of that the slick thick surface and smooth sweet characteristics are astonishing. Its scrumptious light MGP. I can see myself going after this as an extraordinary regular sipper when I am simply in the state of mind for dessert whiskey.

The revue is right on the money. I would include flawlessness in what it is extraordinary center of the roadand so smooth. Only an incredible whiskey to present a youngster onto the valuation for bourbon so their bed us not bulldozed by pleasantness or corrosive notes

Tasting Notes

Nose

Nilla wafers, and manila paper. Also, this has got a strong strawberry scent: both strawberry Quik and regular strawberries. But the kind of strawberries that are a little white in the middle. Or like strawberry-scented air freshener.

Taste

Spicy rye and cinnamon notes on the palate

Finish

Caramel at the finish.
