Release Radar: Buffalo Trace Unveils Weller Millennium #2

Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced the highly anticipated second release of Weller Millennium, the crown jewel of their prestigious Weller lineup. Following the success of the inaugural release in May 2024, Weller Millennium #2 represents the pinnacle of wheated bourbon craftsmanship. The new blend features a carefully curated marriage of wheated bourbons and wheat whiskeys, each component telling a story of the distillery's evolution through the early 2000s: 

• 2001 distillation: 2.9% 
• 2003 distillation: 46.5% 
• 2006 distillation: 50.6% 

"This second edition takes last year's release a step further, with a new blend that we humbly believe is an improvement over the well-regarded first edition," explains Andrew Duncan, Buffalo Trace's global brand director. "By carefully selecting and blending barrels dating back to the early 2000s, we have revisited a chapter in the Distillery's history that shaped who we are today." 

Presentation and Tasting Notes 

Weller Millennium #2 maintains the luxurious presentation standards established by its predecessor. Each 750ml bottle is housed in a custom illuminated presentation case featuring elegant sliding doors. The case displays a distinctive gold placard detailing the precise blend percentages by year, differentiating it from the first edition's white placard. Both releases are bottled at a robust 99 proof. 

The flavor profile promises a sophisticated journey for the palate. Brand tasting notes describe "a balance of dark cherry, rich butterscotch and warm vanilla that unfolds over layers of well-aged oak," culminating in an oak-forward, lengthy finish that speaks to the whiskey's maturity.

Limited Availability and Special Release Timing 

True to its ultra-premium positioning, Weller Millennium #2 will see highly limited distribution both domestically and internationally. Initial shipments are scheduled to arrive in July 2025, with bottles available through select retailers and the Buffalo Trace Gift Shop. 

In a special nod to whiskey history, Buffalo Trace is timing a portion of the release to coincide with William Larue Weller's 200th birthday on July 25th, 2025. A small quantity of bottles will be available for purchase at the distillery's gift shop until supplies are exhausted, offering collectors and enthusiasts a unique opportunity to celebrate this milestone.
